A Message from Aqqaluk Lynge, Inuit Leader
Inuit leader Aqqaluk Lynge recently visited Britain to give evidence to the Stansted Airport Public Inquiry about how people in the Arctic Circle are already feeling the effects of climate change.
The Arctic has been recognised by experts as a crucial indicator region for changes in global atmosphere. Temperatures in the Arctic are rising more rapidly than at lower latitudes and scientists say this is an indicator of future climate change elsewhere.
Mr Lynge, Chair of the Inuit Circumpolar Council, also had a message for North Somerset District Councillors who will soon be asked to consider the expansion of Bristol International Airport.
